for estyle.com Classic Women’s Professional Tennis Tournament to be held at the Manhattan Country Club

Manhattan Beach,  CA  – Carol L. Otis, M.D., of the world famous Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Group, has been named the “Official Tournament Physician” for the estyle.com Classic Women’s Professional Tennis Tournament.  The estyle.com Classic takes place at the beautiful Manhattan Country Club, August 5-12.

The tournament is in its 31st year and is the only stop for the Sanex WTA Tour Players in the Los Angeles area.  Top players Serena Williams, Monica Seles, Martina Hingis, and Lindsay Davenport are expected to contest for the estyle.com Classic trophy won last year by Serena Williams.

Dr. Otis has recently established the first women’s sports medicine clinic west of the Rockies at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic.  The special concerns of active women and their special needs are the focus of Dr. Otis’s clinic at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic.

The Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic, in the forefront of surgical treatment for athletes, has broken new ground in establishing one of the first sports medicine clinics devoted to the specific needs of active women.  These needs range from using training models to reduce knee injuries to educating women about proper nutrition, strength training and the effect of the menstrual cycle on athletic performance.

The Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic serves as either team physicians or consultants to most of Southern California’s professional teams.  This includes the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Mighty Ducks, Anaheim Angels, PGA and Senior PGA Tours, Los Angeles Galaxy, Los Angeles Sparks and the racetracks at Hollywood Park and Santa Anita.    As a result of the many years of specialized treatment, research and education, the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic has been successful in meeting the standards of the many people from all walks of life who have entrusted them with their lifestyles.
